next meeting on 11/21/09 at 6:30 pm The Atlantic Alano Club offers a wide range of health and wellness programs to the community it serves such as providing meeting space for Alcoholics Anonymous; Crystal Meth Anonymous; Sexual Compulsive Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other 12- step programs.
Most recently we are tracking a surge of membership in the areas of Sexual Compulsives Anonymous (SCA) and Crystal Meth Anonymous (CMA) meetings that address addictions associated with the merging of sex and drugs in the gay community. We have also added a Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (addiction and mental health issues) meeting to our schedule.
We, the membership of the Atlantic Alano Club, have been lost and alone in our addictions. We have experienced the fear and prejudices of society relating to our disease and our sexuality. We have found much freedom among the fellowship provided to us through 12 step programs. The Atlantic Alano Club offers an essential service to us by providing a safe place for us to come together in recovery. Since The Atlantic Alano Club was founded in 1984, the club has helped thousands of people with recovery from addiction and other psychological challenges that keep them on the outskirts of society. The club has been very successful in providing the lesbian and gay community with a safe harbor from such devastating illnesses.
These results are accomplished through the daily twelve step meetings (averaging four meetings a day, seven days a week); community referral services for persons needing help finding sober living housing, or other recovery related needs and drug and alcohol free dances, dinners, beach parties, holiday meals and other fellowship gatherings.
The Atlantic Alano Club gives back to the community through volunteer work and outreach programs that make our community and surrounding areas a better, safer place to live.
We have recently been recognized by the City of Long Beach for 20 years of commitment to the GLBT recovery community.
